Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 2026

SteadyEye is a teleprompter app developed by Kirill Vasilyev (sole developer). Your privacy matters. This policy explains what data SteadyEye handles and how.

What stays on your device

Your scripts and text are stored locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework. They are never uploaded to any server, except when you choose to use an AI feature (see below). Video recordings are kept in the app on your device and saved to your Photo Library when you choose to; the video itself is never uploaded. The only exception for sound is Studio Sound (see below): if you use it, the audio track of that recording is sent for processing. Speech recognition for the voice-tracking feature runs entirely on-device using Apple's Speech framework — that audio never leaves your device. Chat history is also cached locally as a JSON file in your app's documents directory.

AI features

SteadyEye's AI features are "Optimize for Reading", writing a script from a topic, and splitting an imported document into scripts. When you use one, the text involved (your script, topic or document) is sent to our server, which passes it to the Anthropic Claude API and returns the result to you. Anthropic processes this data under their own privacy policy, available at anthropic.com/privacy.

To improve these features, our server keeps a copy of the text sent and the text returned for up to 90 days, after which it is deleted automatically. This copy is not linked to you: it is stored without your app identifier and without your IP address, alongside only the feature used, whether you were subscribed, the app's language and the app version.

To enforce usage limits, our server also keeps a record of each AI request: your anonymous app identifier, your IP address, the feature used, the length of the text and when it was made. This record contains no text.

Studio Sound (audio enhancement)

Studio Sound removes background noise and echo from a recording and evens out the voice. It runs only when you tap the Studio Sound button on a recording, after a one-time explanation in the app.

When you use it, only the audio track of that recording is extracted on your device and sent to our server, which passes it to Auphonic GmbH (Austria, EU) for processing. The video never leaves your device. The processed audio is downloaded back to your device, and we then ask Auphonic to delete both the uploaded and the processed audio. Our server does not store the audio. Auphonic processes it under its own privacy policy, available at auphonic.com/privacy.

To enforce usage limits and prevent abuse, our server keeps a record of each enhancement: your anonymous app identifier, a random device identifier generated by the app, your IP address, the length of the audio, and when it was processed. This record contains no audio.

In-app chat

SteadyEye includes an in-app chat feature ("Chat with Cyril") that lets you message the founder directly. When you use this feature, the following data is sent to our servers:

• An anonymous device identifier (a randomly generated UUID stored locally on your device, not linked to your Apple ID, name, or email).
- The text content of messages you send.
- Diagnostic information attached to each message: app version, iOS version, device model, subscription status, recording count, and preferred language.

Messages are forwarded to the founder's Telegram account for response. Replies are routed back to your device. The data is used solely to provide direct customer support and improve the app — it is not sold, shared, or used for advertising. Optionally, you may provide an email address for reply notifications; if you choose to do so, that email is associated with your anonymous identifier on our server.

The backend is hosted on Railway. Telegram processes message routing under their own privacy policy, available at telegram.org/privacy.

Analytics and crash reports

SteadyEye uses Firebase Analytics (Google Analytics 4) for anonymous, aggregated usage analytics. Analytics events are linked to a Firebase-generated app instance ID, not to your personal identity. No personal information is collected.

SteadyEye uses Firebase Crashlytics to receive a report when the app crashes or hits a serious error: what went wrong in the code, plus the device model, iOS version and app version. Crash reports are used only to fix bugs and are not linked to your identity.

Firebase's privacy policy is available at policies.google.com/privacy.

Attribution

SteadyEye integrates with Apple Search Ads through Apple's AdServices framework to attribute installs from Apple Search Ads campaigns. This uses Apple's privacy-preserving framework and does not collect personal information. Subscription events may be shared with RevenueCat for attribution and analytics.

SteadyEye also uses AppsFlyer, a mobile measurement service, to understand which ad campaigns lead to installs. Only if you allow tracking when the app asks (Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt), your device's advertising identifier (IDFA) is shared with AppsFlyer and with RevenueCat's attribution integrations for this purpose. If you decline, the advertising identifier is not shared. You can change this at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking. AppsFlyer's privacy policy is available at appsflyer.com/legal/privacy-policy.

Subscriptions

Subscription management is handled by RevenueCat, which communicates with Apple's StoreKit. RevenueCat receives anonymous transaction data from Apple to manage your subscription status. No personal information is shared. RevenueCat's privacy policy is available at revenuecat.com/privacy. All payments are processed by Apple.

Permissions

SteadyEye requests access to your camera (for video recording), microphone (for audio recording), Photo Library (to save recorded videos), and speech recognition (for voice-activated teleprompter advancement). These permissions are used solely for their stated purposes and can be revoked at any time in iOS Settings.

What we do not do

We do not create user accounts. We do not show ads in the app. Apart from the install attribution described above, which happens only with your permission, we do not track you across other companies' apps or websites. We do not sell any data. We do not use cookies or web tracking. We do not link chat messages or any other data to your Apple ID.

Data retention

Local data (scripts, recordings, chat cache) is stored on your device. When you delete the app, all local data is removed.

Studio Sound usage records (no audio) and AI request records (no text) are kept to enforce usage limits. The copies of AI texts described above are deleted automatically after 90 days.

Server-side chat messages and the associated anonymous identifier are retained indefinitely for support history. You may request deletion of your chat data by emailing the contact address below with your anonymous user identifier (visible on request via support).

GDPR and CCPA

SteadyEye has no accounts and does not ask for your name. Some data we keep is still personal data under the GDPR: your anonymous app identifier, the device identifier and IP address in Studio Sound and AI request records, and your chat messages. You may request access to, export of, or deletion of this data by emailing the contact address below; include your anonymous user identifier if you can (support can tell you what it is). AI text copies are stored without any identifier, so they cannot be tied back to you; they are deleted after 90 days. Studio Sound audio is not stored on our server, and we ask Auphonic to delete it after processing.

Children's privacy

SteadyEye is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has used the chat feature, contact us and we will delete any associated data.

Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected on this page with an updated date.
